Create a professional, modern, technical 15-slide seminar PowerPoint presentation on: “RISC-V: An Open-Source Instruction Set Architecture for Next-Generation Embedded Systems” Presenter: Shazia Siyad Guided by: Princy Paul Department: Computer Engineering IMPORTANT: * Exactly 15 slides. * This is a SEMINAR presentation, not a project presentation. * Keep the technical content accurate and suitable for Diploma/Undergraduate Computer Engineering students. * Use concise bullet points rather than long paragraphs. * Use diagrams, architecture illustrations, processor/embedded-system visuals, instruction-format graphics, and comparison tables wherever appropriate. * Use a professional technology-themed design with a dark navy/blue background, white text, and subtle cyan/blue highlights. * Keep all slides visually consistent and uncluttered. * Use modern icons and clean vector-style diagrams. * Do not add unnecessary college/institution logos. * Include the presenter and guide details only on the title slide and final Thank You slide. * Use accurate terminology based on the official RISC-V specifications. SLIDE 1 — TITLE SLIDE Title: RISC-V: An Open-Source Instruction Set Architecture for Next-Generation Embedded Systems Subtitle: Seminar Presentation Presented by: Shazia Siyad Guided by: Princy Paul Department of Computer Engineering Visual: Modern RISC-V processor/embedded-system themed background with a subtle CPU and circuit-board design. SLIDE 2 — INTRODUCTION TO RISC-V Explain: * What is RISC-V? * Meaning of Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) * RISC-V as an open-standard ISA * Based on Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) principles * Origin at the University of California, Berkeley * Why RISC-V is becoming important in modern processor design Add a simple diagram: Software → Compiler → RISC-V ISA → Processor Hardware SLIDE 3 — WHAT IS AN ISA? Explain the role of an Instruction Set Architecture: * Interface between software and hardware * Defines instructions understood by a processor * Registers and data types * Memory-access operations * Control-flow operations * Instruction formats and encoding * Relationship between ISA and microarchitecture Visual: Software ↔ ISA ↔ CPU Hardware diagram. SLIDE 4 — WHY RISC-V? Explain the major motivations behind RISC-V: * Open and publicly available ISA specification * No requirement to use a proprietary ISA license * Modular architecture * Extensible instruction set * Suitable for research and education * Supports customized processor designs * Applicable from small embedded systems to larger computing platforms Do not make unsupported claims about cost or performance. SLIDE 5 — RISC-V ARCHITECTURE OVERVIEW Explain the basic structure: * Base Integer ISA * Standard Extensions * Custom Extensions * 32-bit and 64-bit variants * Modular and extensible design Show a clear architecture diagram: RISC-V ISA ↓ Base ISA ↓ Standard Extensions ↓ Optional Custom Extensions ↓ Application-Specific Processor Mention examples such as: RV32I, RV64I, RV32E, RV64E. SLIDE 6 — RISC-V BASE ISA Explain: * RV32I * RV64I * RV32E * RV64E * Integer registers * XLEN concept * Load/store architecture * Basic arithmetic and logical operations * Branch and control-flow instructions Highlight RV32E as a smaller base variant intended for resource-constrained systems. Use a comparison table: RV32I | RV64I | RV32E | RV64E SLIDE 7 — RISC-V INSTRUCTION SET EXTENSIONS Explain the modular extension concept. Cover major extensions: * I — Base Integer ISA * M — Integer Multiplication and Division * A — Atomic Operations * F — Single-Precision Floating Point * D — Double-Precision Floating Point * C — Compressed Instructions Explain how extensions can be combined depending on application requirements. Use a visual showing: Base ISA + Extensions → Application-Specific Processor SLIDE 8 — RISC-V INSTRUCTION FORMATS Explain the major instruction formats: * R-type * I-type * S-type * B-type * U-type * J-type For each format, briefly mention its purpose. Include a clean visual representation of instruction fields such as: opcode rd rs1 rs2 funct3 funct7 immediate Use color-coded blocks for easy understanding. SLIDE 9 — RISC-V PROCESSOR WORKING Explain a simplified processor instruction cycle: 1. Instruction Fetch 2. Instruction Decode 3. Execute 4. Memory Access 5. Write Back Show a simple datapath/flow diagram. Explain how a RISC-V processor executes instructions using registers, ALU, control unit, memory and program counter. SLIDE 10 — RISC-V IN EMBEDDED SYSTEMS Explain why RISC-V is relevant to embedded systems: * Small processor implementations * Modular ISA * Custom extensions * Resource-constrained devices * Low-power design opportunities * Real-time and control applications * Microcontrollers and SoC designs * IoT and edge devices Visual: RISC-V Core → MCU/SoC → Sensors / Communication / Memory / Actuators SLIDE 11 — APPLICATIONS OF RISC-V Show practical application areas: * Microcontrollers * IoT devices * Edge computing * Industrial automation * Robotics * Automotive electronics * AI/ML accelerators * FPGA-based systems * Embedded SoCs * Educational processor platforms Use icons/illustrations for each application. SLIDE 12 — RISC-V VS TRADITIONAL PROPRIETARY ISAs Create a neutral technical comparison between RISC-V and proprietary ISA approaches. Compare: * ISA availability * Customization * Extension model * Ecosystem * Processor implementation flexibility * Standardization * Typical use cases Avoid declaring one architecture universally superior. Title: “RISC-V and Proprietary ISA Approaches: Key Differences” Use a clean comparison table. SLIDE 13 — ADVANTAGES AND CHALLENGES Divide the slide into two sections. Advantages: * Open-standard ISA * Modular architecture * Extensibility * Custom instruction support * Research and educational flexibility * Broad range of implementation possibilities Challenges: * Ecosystem maturity varies by application * Multiple extension combinations can increase software-support complexity * Toolchain and software portability depend on supported ISA profiles/extensions * Hardware/software ecosystem continues to evolve Keep the discussion balanced and factual. Presentation overview
This community presentation was shared by Shazzihhh as a complete 15-slide example. Create a professional, modern, technical 15-slide seminar PowerPoint presentation on: “RISC-V: An Open-Source Instruction Set Architecture for Next-Generation Embedded Systems” … The preview lets you review the full sequence in order, rather than judging the design from a single cover image.
Use it as a reference for planning your own deck: notice how the amount of information changes from slide to slide, where visual emphasis appears, and how repeated design choices help the presentation feel connected. Community examples are inspiration, not locked templates, so you can keep the ideas that fit your audience and replace anything that does not.
Learn from the example
Look at the job each slide performs. Identify where the deck introduces its subject, develops the main points, adds evidence or examples, and moves toward a conclusion.
Notice which element attracts attention first and how headings, supporting text, images, and data are separated. Strong hierarchy makes the intended reading order obvious.
Compare spacing, typography, color, and repeated components across the slides. Consistent rules help varied content feel like one presentation instead of unrelated screens.
Make it your own
Begin with your audience and the decision, lesson, or action the presentation should support. Replace the topic, examples, evidence, and visuals with material you can verify, then edit every slide for one clear takeaway. You can borrow the visual direction without copying the creator's wording or message. Presenton will use this community deck as a design reference while you develop content for your own purpose.
